Hartzell expanded its offerings in the MRO market with 2024 acquisitions of American Propeller Service, Texas Aircraft Propeller Tiffin Aire Inc, and Canadian Propeller Ltd.The RoleHartzell is seeking a Senior Accountant to support its MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) division. This dynamic role includes responsibilities across accounts payable, payroll, and both financial and operational reporting for multiple locations throughout the United States and Canada. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, a proactive attitude toward learning, and resilience in the face of challenges. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities are essential for success in this role. As a key member of the MRO accounting team, the Senior Accountant will work closely with site teams to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of financial reporting and analysis. This role also includes ensuring compliance with internal policies and supporting the overall financial health of the MRO division through thoughtful and actionable financial insight.Key Deliverables1) General ledgera. Manage and reconcile the Rollforward of Goodwill and Intangibles to ensure accuracy and proper account classification.b. Reconcile the balance sheet and provide explanations for variance analysis.c. Conduct reserves analysis for Accounts Receivable and Inventory, and oversee the documentation and maintenance of rollforward schedules.2) Month-end closea. Take ownership of select journal entries, account reconciliations and month-end close activities, while continuously identifying opportunities to enhance controls and improve efficiencies.b. Review trial balances and financial statements to spot irregularities. Investigate and remediate when necessary.c. Be the subject matter expert on month end close deliverablesd. Prepare and present budget variance and fluctuation analyses and provide explanation to support findings.3) Contribute to the Success of the Teama. Assist in AP coding where needed. b. Drive and implement continuous improvement projects.c. Gather information for tax purposes and audits. d. Ensure internal and SOX controls are being followed and documented.e. Provide appropriate administrative support as needed for the team.i. Backup for local accounting site functionsRequirements: Required Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in accounting or related discipline (required), 3-5+ years of experience. Required Technical CompetenciesExposure and Strength in the following areas: ERP Experience- Required: Hands on experience with company ERP system; NetSuite strongly desired General ledger - Understanding of a chart of accounts, journal entries, and reconciliations. Full-cycle accounting - Demonstrated knowledge of the complete accounting cycle, including the ability to articulate and establish accounting processes from the ground up. Internal controls - Experience operating within an environment governed by internal controls, with a focus on compliance and accuracy. Proficient Computer Skills - MS Office Excel functionality NetSuite preferred Effectiveand professional electronic communication Excellent verbal and written communication skills An ability to effectively communicate complex financial concepts in a clear, concise manner. Capable of tailoring communication to promote understanding for non-financial audience, ensuring understanding and alignment across departments.
