Uses machine tools and measuring instruments to make, repair, and
refurbish machined parts and assemblies according to blueprint and
procedural specifications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or
sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of
operations, and setup requirements. Sets up and operates all
machine tool equipment independently. Selects, aligns, and secures
fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on
machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
Calculates and sets controls for machining factors like speed,
feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut. Observes machine
operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining,
adjusts controls as needed. Verifies conformance of finished
workpiece to specifications. Develops specifications from general
descriptions and sketches parts/products to be fabricated. Confers
with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve
machining or assembly problems. Uses safety equipment and practices
safe machine operation. Follows safety procedures, reports
accidents or safety issues to the Manager. Reads and follows
Material Safety Data Sheets for all products used. Keeps detailed
records for timekeeping, logbooks, and shift communications. Learns
and uses the Kanban system. Performs preventive maintenance and
daily lubrication on machines. Provides own tools as per the Tool
List and maintains them in good condition. Reports tool or
equipment problems to the Manager immediately. Keeps work area and
