Position SummaryThe Chemistry Laboratory Supervisor is responsible
for the day to day performance of the factory laboratories which
includes both people safety and development and efficient testing.
This position has the technical responsibility for all chemistry
and laboratory aspects of product systems and environments and
oversees accurate and efficient physical, qualitative, and
quantitative nutritional and chemical analyses of incoming raw
materials, in-line samples, semi-finished product, and finished
product in order to assess their conformance to established quality
standards.PRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES:
- Coach, mentor, develop team members to meet current and future
business requirements
- Plan and manage the day to day allocation of resources in order
to efficiently, safely and cost effectively achieve on-time release
of materials or finished product through laboratory testing
- Responsible for accurate and efficient chemical analysis of raw
materials, ingredients, finished products and all chemistry tests
in accordance with Nestl-- policies, procedures and GMPs
- Compiles and organizes testing results for release of finished
product and reviews for completeness and accuracy for coordinating
product release on a timely basis
- Identifies analytical trends in raw materials, ingredients,
finished products and recommending, establishing and implementing
corrective action
- Identifies and resolves technical issues through root cause
analysis investigations
- Creates and revises procedures, protocols and process
flows
- Oversees all laboratory internal control program requirements
to ensure that they are being performed and documented
- Oversees a laboratory environment that is clean, orderly and
safe
- Ensure all necessary actions are taken, including scheduling,
analysis or submit for analysis via outside testing laboratory, to
meet testing requirements for all programs in place
- Schedule and successfully complete all Proficiency and
Collaborative tests
- Ensures inspection readiness through internal laboratory
audits
- Provide training to all Laboratory Team members, maintain and
improve laboratory training
- Provide a leadership role to all shifts to assist production in
the identification of chemistry/analytical problems and provide
technical leadership necessary to resolve
- Supports laboratory budget
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Travel as necessaryREQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION
LEVEL:
- Preferred B.S in Chemistry, Food Science, or related technical
field
- Required A.S in Chemistry, Food Science or related technical
fieldEXPERIENCE:
- Preferred 2-5 years experience in analytical chemistry or
quality control in food manufacturing or pharmaceuticalREQUIRED
SKILLS:
- Ability to lead, inspire and develop their team to achieve high
performance results within a positive, motivated, proactive
environment
