Where you fit in As part of our Laboratory team, the Histology Technician responsibilities include: Prepares tissue specimens for routine and special procedures that aid in the confirmation of patient diagnosis Processes, embeds, cuts and stains surgical, biopsy and anatomical tissues for light and fluorescent microscopic slide review Performs complex histological procedures and analyzes and corrects problems using scientific principles Analyzes and records data Performs instrument maintenance, utilizing established protocols Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments Coordinate daily workflow of tasks and activities in the surgical pathology area regarding routine procedures, special procedures, and the surgery schedule. Your exceptional skills Requires ability to perform routine techniques and procedures Requires proficiency at computer entry / retrieval of lab results Requires ability to maintain quality control records and patient results Requires ability to apply safety regulations Requires ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment Your exceptional qualifications Three (3) years of histology experience preferred Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) through ASCP or obtained within 6 months of hire required Associates degree in histology required, bachelors preferred Your life at Community You work hard to provide our patients with the exceptional care, and you deserve benefits to match.
